Groupon Deal – $10 for $20 Jake’s of Pasadena

The hamburger, America’s national meal, has always been served during Independence Day cookouts and the competitive-eating portion of presidential debates. Eat like Ike with this Groupon.

Jake’s of Pasadena is known for its no-frills menu of burgers, fries, and shakes. The billiards hall is open 4:30 p.m. until close; the rate is $10 per hour.

Jake’s of Pasadena

Not much has changed at Jake’s of Pasadena since 1947, the year the diner first opened its doors along historic Route 66 in Old Town Pasadena. The eatery recalls Southern California’s golden era of surf music, hot rods, and drive-ins through its nostalgic decor and classic diner grub. Feel free to build your own burger ($5.99+) or outsource the decision-making to the cooks by ordering one of Jake’s signature menu items, such as the BBQ cheeseburger ($7.99). You can complement any sandwich with chili fries or onion rings or sip a shake while you gossip about which mailman is stealing the football team’s letterman jackets. There’s also a billiards hall downstairs that is open nightly.

Groupon Deal – Gandolfo’s New York Deli Pasadena $10 for $20

Sandwiches are easy to eat, carry home, or mail home for a snack in two to three business days. Grab a portable bite with this Groupon.

$10 for $20 Worth of Sandwiches, Salads, and Drinks

Sandwiches include pastrami drizzled with russian dressing on rye ($10.49), the Ebbets Field, with marinated mushrooms, swiss, cheddar, provolone, and spicy mustard ($5.09), and the meatball hero ($5.09). The delicatessen is open Monday–Saturday, 7 a.m.–9 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.; see the full menu here.

Craig Gandolph entered the deli business on Long Island, making the sandwiches he’d always eaten growing up in New York. When love floated him to Salt Lake City, he missed the flavor of his hometown. So he opened the first Gandolfo’s New York Delicatessen and named his sandwiches after the Big Apple locales that he missed. Today, his little sandwich shop has grown to encompass dozens of franchises across the States, slinging sandwiches from both brick-and-mortar joints and gridlocked food trucks.

At the Pasadena location, a bold palette of red and black stretches from floor to ceiling. A strip of crimson marks the sandwich bar, where bread stackers display their handiwork. A flat-screen television flickers overhead, entertaining diners tired of starting conversations with brick walls.

Groupon Deal – Melting Pot Pasadena $25 for $50

If you missed this deal the 1st time around, here’s your chance to grab it again.

Fondue is a ubiquitous staple of Swiss culture, matched only by neutrality, multiuse pocketknives, and the world’s most easy-to-draw cheese. Go for a dip with this Groupon.

$25 for Cheese Fondue for Two and Bottle of Wine ($50 Value)

The cheese fondue includes a selection of rustic artisan breads, fresh vegetables, and crisp granny smith apples. Diners may choose options such as fiesta cheese, wisconsin trio cheese, and traditional swiss cheese. The type of bottle of wine is based on availability with options possibly including Salmon Creek cabernet sauvignon, pinot grigio, or an equivalent determined by The Melting Pot.

The Melting Pot

When The Melting Pot originally opened in 1975 just outside Orlando, diners had just three options: swiss-cheese fondue, beef fondue, or chocolate fondue. The restaurant first expanded four years later, when an enterprising waiter at the initial location opened up a new outpost in Tallahassee. Today, the company—now owned by that original waiter, Mark Johnston, and his brothers Mike and Bob—reigns as the premier fondue, wine, and drink restaurant, stretching across North America with more than 140 restaurants linked by underground tunnels. The restaurant’s menu has also expanded, and patrons can now expect six varieties of hot dipping cheese paired with saladsmeats, and molten chocolate.

On a given night, groups of viscous-dip-loving foodies gather around tables to nosh on cheese-fondue appetizers and various salads while cooking steaks and seafood in a choice of healthy broth or oil. Birthday revelers and romance seekers cap decadent evenings sharing the chocolate desserts that have defined The Melting Pot for decades.
